Squid Game 2's Won Ji An, Park Seo Joon Roped In For New Rom-Com
Won Ji An and Park Seo Joon will be seen in a complex love story in the upcoming K-drama Waiting for Gyeongdo.

Squid Game 2’s Won Ji An is officially joining South Korean star Park Seo Joon in the upcoming rom-com K-drama Waiting for Gyeongdo. While Park Seo Joon was already confirmed as the male lead, JTBC has now finalized Ji An for a pivotal role. This announcement comes weeks after reports suggested she was in talks to lead the show. With casting now taking shape, production is expected to begin soon.
JTBC’s Waiting for Gyeongdo is said to be a romantic comedy revolving around former lovers Lee Gyeong Do and Seo Ji Woo, who happened to fall in love at 20, only to rekindle their relationship at 28 before breaking up. Years later, they meet again with Gyeong Do as a journalist covering an affair scandal and Ji Woo as the wife of the man in the news. Moving forward, their lives get entangled once again with romance and humour unfolding in the most unexpected ways, as per a Soompi report.

Park Seo Joon will be seen as Lee Gyeong Do, an entertainment reporter for Dongwoon llbo, who is a relatable office worker with a grounded personality that is neither eccentric nor unusual. On the other hand, Won Ji An plays Seo Ji Won, the glamorous and confident daughter of Jarim Apparel. As the story unfolds, viewers will get a glimpse of her silent struggles behind a dazzling image as she deals with her husband’s reckless actions. At the lowest point, she will be seen remembering the happiest love of her life with Park Seo Joon’s Lee Gyeong Do.
Previously, Won Ji impressed the audiences with her performance as Se-mi, aka Player 380, in Squid Game Season 2. Following her entry as a street-smart, tough, shrewd, and bold Se-Mi, the character dies after being ambushed by other players. With her upcoming show’s narrative consisting of romance, humour, and emotions, fans are eagerly awaiting to catch her fresh chemistry with the Itaewon Class actor.
The show is directed by Lim Hyun Wook, known for his work in King the Land, Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency, Life, and more. While more details about the storyline and additional casting are yet to be announced, Waiting for Gyeongdo is scheduled to release sometime in 2025.
