Hey bug, if you had read the thread and the posts, you would see that issue is not what is up for debate. Why not just have a gentle stroll through the debate to see what is really at issue

Well, let me summarise: The debate is really about this

There are some who say that people are not really doing anything wrong by simply
downloading and watching child porn whilst there are those who believe that it is these very
people themselves who are fuelling the child pornography industry.

What is your position?

Is that easier for you?

 

There is also a good debate on the age of consent.

But what about porn that has schoolgirls, pigtails, cheerleader, and obvious child overtones in it? That stuff makes me think about younger people having sex? Why would you outlaw porn with sixteen yearolds and fourteen yearolds in it, when the porn industry dresses up their 18 yo models to look like those kids? How is that right?

As far as the 8 yo girl goes, that's just fucking terrible. It's sickening and makes me wanna vomit.

I asked the question merely to stimulate and provoke debate and, quite frankly, I have enjoyed the way the posters have broadened the subject and even polarised on the issue at hand.

Just because I broached the subject initially does not mean I support nor condone the issue.

If you check back on one of my earlier posts you will see that the issue of child abuse is very close to my heart, having been touched by it in a very real way!

I see what you're saying. Charlie Chaplin married three teen wives. His third wife Una married him at 16 when he was 54, I think. She stayed with him until he died in his 90s. Of course, Una developed a drinking problem during the years of marriage and Charlie felt it was very difficult at his age to raise the kids. Of all his wives, I would say Una was the one that was mature enough to handle an adult relationship at the age of 16.

 

That is a very interesting point that has been fairly well left alone. That was in my mind when I posed the opening question.

 

For the record, I'm not ever going to claim that sex with an 8 year old is okay, unless I'm using a hypothetical argument to make some point about something. That falls way outside my belief system.


I know, in my close personal life, three people who were abused as children. (Also for the record, I am neither the perpetrator, nor any of the victims.)
One from the age of 12, one from the age of 9, and one from the age of 5. Two of those three have got over it, and even the third has completely failed to be "destroyed mentally" and does not need extreme counselling. One of the three has never received any counselling of any kind and is one of the most emotionally stable people I ever met.

In short, such ridiculous blanket claims as you make here are actually giving the paedophiles a platform to make their case. They can very easily prove you wrong.

 

Ya but that is used all of the time in relation to the "war on drugs". I dont think the demand will or ever can be reduced to zero, for either drugs or pornography. You can spend billions and throw hundreds of thousands in jail and all we will be is poorer and and even more prisinified (thats a real word isnt it?)

 

A very valid point Heysey, although my daughter, who I mentioned earlier, is not one of the most stable people I know. She has serious anger issues, but as I pointed out, she was more distressed by the actions of others trying to force her to make an official statement to help bring the perpetrator to "justice", than the abuse itself. I believe that if no issue was made of it, she would have far greater peace of mind today.

For the record, the perpetrator in question WAS my best friend and was not brought to "justice", but I know he paid for this in ways we could never understand; and for all I know is still paying for it. He literally lost everything of value to himself, including his own self respect.No amount of incarceration could destroy him as effectively as he destroyed himself!

 

You can add me to that list as well. I was around 8 or so and it lasted at least a year. Im over it and doing great with no help except by bf
